Nauseously Nostalgic
Welcome to my photography website. I have always had a love for photography. Growing up, I remember constantly begging my mom to use her point-and-shoot film cameras. Often times I would sit for hours and look through her collection of photo albums that would provoke a feeling of nostalgia and yearning for a different time that I was never part of (or too young to remember).
I knew early on photographs have the power to freeze time and memorialize any moment you wanted. As I got older, I became intrigued with the art of storytelling through photography. Without understanding how to shoot manually, I was limited in my creative ability. To change that I enrolled in a 8-week photography class where I learned how to shoot manual. Since then, I have found a connection to my camera and film that I never had before. Aside from those 8 weeks, everything I learned has been self taught from observing others in action or their work and taking my camera with me wherever I go.
I focus on fleeting moments, finding beauty in the ordinary, and views that provoke a sense of nostalgia- known and unknown. I shoot 35mm film and digital.
I am influenced by photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Vivian Maier, Joel Meyerowitz, and Han Fo.
